Support & Help

Everything you need to know about using Loopshot.

1. Getting Started

Open Loopshot and tap the camera button in the center of the screen. That's it. No complicated setup required.

Camera & Microphone Permissions

On first launch, you'll be asked to allow camera and microphone access. Tap “Allow” to enable swing recording. The app cannot record without these permissions.

To change later: Settings > Loopshot > Camera / Microphone

Apple Watch Pairing

If you have an Apple Watch, simply open the Loopshot app on your Watch. It connects to your iPhone automatically. No manual pairing needed.

2. Recording Basics

  • Placement: Set your iPhone at hip height. The rear angle (down the target line) is recommended.
  • Recording Format: Native 4:3 capture ensures full-body framing from head to toe.
  • Person Detection: When a person enters the frame, an orange bounding box appears. This means swing detection is ready.
  • Swing Detection: Uses AND detection: Apple Watch accelerometer + camera frame analysis combined. Both must trigger to register a swing.
  • Without a Watch: Swing detection works with camera frame analysis alone, even without an Apple Watch.

Field of View at High Frame Rates

At 120fps/240fps, the iPhone sensor reads a smaller area for faster capture, resulting in a narrower field of viewthan at 60fps. Loopshot's 4:3 recording also crops the 16:9 sensor horizontally, meaning the field of view is cropped twice. When shooting at high frame rates, place your iPhone further back than you would at 60fps and confirm that your full body fits in the frame.

3. Camera Placement Guide

Rear Angle (Down the Line)

  • Place on the target line extension, directly behind the ball
  • Hip height (approximately 90-100cm / 3 feet)
  • 2-3 meters (6-10 feet) behind the ball

Front Angle (Face On)

  • Place directly facing the golfer from the target side
  • Same hip height
  • 2-3 meters (6-10 feet) in front of the ball

Important

  • Never place the camera at an angle. It distorts the swing plane.
  • A tripod is best, but leaning against your golf bag works too.
  • At 120fps/240fps, the field of view is narrower. Verify full-body framing before recording.

4. Apple Watch

How Swing Detection Works

The Apple Watch accelerometer detects wrist motion. It registers peak acceleration approximately 0.12 seconds before impact (at wrist release), and combines this with camera frame analysis to confirm a swing.

Watch Controls

  • Digital Crown: Rotate to select your club.
  • Save / Discard: After a swing, save or discard directly from your Watch.
  • Favorites: Mark swings as favorites from your Watch.
  • Frame-by-Frame: Use your Watch as a remote to step through frames.

Toggle Watch Detection

You can turn Watch detection on/off from the iPhone recording screen. When no Watch is connected, detection automatically falls back to camera-only mode.

Watch Not Responding?

  • Make sure the Loopshot app is open on your Watch.
  • Bring your Watch closer to your iPhone.

5. Library

  • Auto-Organized: Swings are automatically sorted by club and date.
  • Favorites & Notes: Mark your best swings and add notes to remember what felt right.
  • Pinch to Zoom: Pinch to change grid density. Zoom out for overview, zoom in for detail.
  • Bulk Actions: Multi-select to save or delete multiple clips at once.

About 120fps+ Videos

When saving 120fps+ video to your Camera Roll, iOS Photos automatically plays it in slow motion. This is an iOS behavior, not a Loopshot limitation. Within the Loopshot app, you can always play at normal speed.

8. Troubleshooting

Camera won't start

Go to Settings > Loopshot > Camera and make sure access is allowed.

Swings aren't being detected

Check that the orange bounding box is visible on the recording screen. If it's not showing, the person isn't fully in frame. If using an Apple Watch, make sure the Loopshot app is running on the Watch.

Videos play in slow motion in Camera Roll

Videos recorded at 120fps or higher are automatically treated as slow motion by iOS Photos. This is an iOS feature. You can play them at normal speed within the Loopshot app.

Can't connect to Apple Watch

Ensure Bluetooth is turned on on your iPhone. Then manually open the Loopshot app on your Watch.

Battery drains quickly

4K/240fps recording consumes more battery. For longer practice sessions, we recommend 60fps/1080p.

Saved badge doesn't appear

Update the app to the latest version from the App Store.

"Storage full" message

The Free plan stores 25 swings on a rolling basis. Upgrade to Pro for unlimited storage.
